Note: These are commonly requested industry reference ranges, not guaranteed stock or fixed production limits. Final availability depends on temper, dimensions, tolerances and quantity.

What Is 5052-H22 Aluminum Strip?

5052 aluminum is an aluminum-magnesium alloy widely considered when corrosion resistance, strength and formability must be balanced. Compared with commercially pure aluminum grades such as 1050 and 1060, 5052 generally offers higher strength while retaining useful processing performance.

The H22 temper indicates that the material has been strain-hardened and partially annealed. Because mechanical properties vary by temper, buyers should select the final temper according to the required forming method, strength and elongation—not by alloy number alone.

Why Is 0.25mm × 50mm a Special Specification?

At only 0.25 mm thick, the strip requires appropriate rolling control. A width of 50 mm usually requires a master coil to be precision slit into narrow strips. Production planning therefore depends on more than the requested weight.

  • Alloy and temper
  • Thickness and width tolerances
  • Mechanical-property requirements
  • Surface quality
  • Coil ID, OD and coil weight
  • Slitting and edge requirements

Even when a buyer needs only a few kilograms, the factory still needs to prepare material and configure rolling or slitting equipment. This is why a customized specification may carry a much higher MOQ than a stock item.

How Are Custom Specifications Supplied?

Customized 5052 aluminum strip is normally produced or slit according to the confirmed alloy, temper, thickness, width, tolerance and coil requirements. The minimum order quantity depends on the master-coil availability and the amount of rolling, heat treatment and slitting required.

For trial orders, buyers can provide the critical mechanical and dimensional requirements first. If the application permits, Hongyuan Aluminum can check available stock or evaluate a nearby specification for preliminary testing before customized mass production.

Technical Information to Confirm

  1. Final application: What component will the strip be used to produce?
  2. Strength: Are specific tensile-strength or yield-strength values required?
  3. Elongation and formability: Will the material be bent, stamped, drawn, rolled or otherwise formed?
  4. Dimensional tolerance: Must it be exactly 0.25 mm × 50 mm?
  5. Surface and edge quality: Are there requirements for finish, burr level or edge condition?
  6. Coil format: Is a particular coil ID, OD or coil weight required?

Typical Applications

Depending on verified mechanical properties and processing requirements, thin 5052 aluminum strip may be evaluated for precision metal parts, electronic or electrical components, stamped parts, formed components and other industrial parts requiring corrosion resistance.

Important: the application name alone is not enough to confirm material suitability. Final selection should be based on drawings, tolerances, forming conditions and required mechanical properties.

Exact Specification vs. Stock Alternative

For mass production, manufacturing the exact approved specification is usually the preferred solution. For a small trial, a nearby stock specification can reduce initial cost and lead time—provided its strength, elongation, dimensions and processing performance meet the test requirements.

A stock alternative should never be presented as an exact substitute until the buyer confirms the technical limits and validates the material in the intended process.

How to Request an Accurate Quotation

Please include the following information in your RFQ:

  • Product, alloy and temper
  • Thickness, width and required quantity
  • Final application and processing method
  • Tensile strength, yield strength and elongation, if specified
  • Thickness and width tolerances
  • Surface, flatness and edge requirements
  • Coil ID, OD and preferred coil weight
  • Delivery country or destination port

Complete technical information helps us determine whether stock material can be used or customized production is necessary.
