Aluminum Honeycomb Panel

Aluminum Honeycomb Panel is a lightweight sandwich panel consisting of two aluminum face sheets bonded to an aluminum honeycomb core. Its honeycomb structure provides an excellent combination of high rigidity, low weight, good flatness and corrosion resistance.

Compared with conventional solid aluminum panels, aluminum honeycomb panels can provide high structural stiffness while significantly reducing panel weight, making them suitable for building facades, curtain walls, ceilings, interior decoration, transportation, marine and industrial applications.

Hongyuan Aluminum supplies Aluminum Honeycomb Panels in various panel thicknesses, aluminum skin thicknesses, dimensions, colors and surface finishes. Custom panel sizes and specifications are available according to drawings and project requirements.

Panel Structure

A typical Aluminum Honeycomb Panel consists of three main layers:

Top Aluminum Skin
Provides the visible surface, corrosion protection and decorative finish.

Aluminum Honeycomb Core
The lightweight hexagonal core provides high stiffness while minimizing overall panel weight.

Bottom Aluminum Skin
Works together with the upper skin and honeycomb core to create a stable sandwich structure.

This structure provides an excellent strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratio for large-format panel applications.

Key Features

High Rigidity

The aluminum honeycomb core provides excellent structural stiffness while maintaining a lightweight panel construction.

Lightweight

The hollow honeycomb structure significantly reduces weight compared with solid panels of similar dimensions.

Excellent Flatness

The sandwich construction provides good dimensional stability and surface flatness, particularly for large panels.

Corrosion Resistance

Aluminum skins and aluminum honeycomb cores provide good corrosion resistance for architectural and industrial applications.

Large Panel Sizes

Suitable for large facade, ceiling and interior panels where flatness and reduced weight are important.

Custom Specifications

Panel thickness, aluminum skin thickness, dimensions, honeycomb core, surface coating and color can be customized.

Available Surface Finishes

Aluminum Honeycomb Panels can be supplied with different surface treatments according to architectural and decorative requirements.

PVDF Coating

Recommended for exterior building facades and curtain walls requiring good weather and UV resistance.

PE Coating

Suitable for many interior decoration and commercial applications.

Powder Coating

Available in various colors for architectural and industrial applications.

Decorative Finishes

Wood grain, stone appearance, brushed and other decorative finishes can be supplied according to project requirements.

Applications

Aluminum Honeycomb Panel is widely used for:

Building facades
Curtain walls
Exterior wall cladding
Interior wall panels
Ceilings
Commercial buildings
Airports and railway stations
Elevators
Transportation equipment
Marine interiors
Shipbuilding
Furniture and partitions
Exhibition systems
Industrial equipment

Aluminum Honeycomb Panel for Building Facades

Aluminum Honeycomb Panel is particularly suitable for large-format architectural facade and curtain wall applications.

Its lightweight sandwich structure helps reduce the dead load of the cladding system while maintaining good panel rigidity and flatness.

For exterior applications, PVDF-coated aluminum honeycomb panels can be supplied in customized colors and dimensions according to architectural drawings and project specifications.

For facade projects, customers should provide the required panel dimensions, thickness, aluminum skin thickness, coating, color, installation requirements and applicable project standards.

Aluminum Honeycomb Panel for Transportation

The excellent stiffness-to-weight ratio of Aluminum Honeycomb Panel also makes it suitable for applications where weight reduction is important.

Depending on the required specification, aluminum honeycomb panels can be used for:

Rail Transportation • Marine Interiors • Vehicle Components • Equipment Panels

The exact panel construction should be selected according to mechanical, fire-performance and environmental requirements.

Aluminum Honeycomb Panel vs Aluminum Composite Panel

Aluminum Honeycomb Panel	Aluminum Composite Panel (ACP)
Core	Aluminum Honeycomb Core	PE / Mineral-Filled Core
Weight	Very Lightweight	Lightweight
Rigidity	Higher	Good
Large Panel Flatness	Excellent	Good
Typical Thickness	Thicker	Usually Thinner
Cost	Generally Higher	More Economical
Main Applications	Facades, large panels, transport	Cladding, signage, decoration

Higher rigidity + lightweight + large panels → Aluminum Honeycomb Panel

Economical cladding + decoration + signage → Aluminum Composite Panel

How to Choose Aluminum Honeycomb Panel

When requesting a quotation, customers should confirm:

Panel Thickness → Aluminum Skin Thickness → Width × Length → Honeycomb Core → Surface Coating → Color → Quantity

For example:

20mm Aluminum Honeycomb Panel / 1.0 + 1.0mm Aluminum Skin / 1500 × 3000mm / PVDF / RAL 9016
